Nepal Weather - The Best Time to Visit Nepal

Mountainous Nepal enjoys drastic altitude change within a limited strip of land. The lofty Himalayan peaks stand in the north, while its southern part bordering India along the Indo-Gangetic Plain is especially low-lying, thus the country has a diverse weather and climate including mainly four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. The four seasons in Nepal are quite like that in Europe and North America but is opposite to that in Australia. You can just wear T-shirts and shorts in June-July while it does get cold in much of the country in December – January.

Tourists generally avoid visiting Nepal in winter due to its old weather especially at night, however, this means few tourists around and you will be rewarded with clear skies, awesome panoramas and quieter trekking trails, but high-altitude trekking is not recommended in winter as lack of oxygen.

October to December should be the best time to visit the country, when the weather remains dry and warm and the skies are a clear blue and the scenery is gorgeous.

May, the last spring, is a beautiful time to visit Nepal. You will come across the blooming rhododendrons during your trekking.

June to the end of August is the monsoon season. The heavy rain and landslides make the travel difficult; the sky and the glorious mountain views are covered by the thick black clouds and many places close down.

Nepal has much to offer all year round. Differences in the seasons determine where’s good to go at any given time of year. The best time to visit Nepal depends on what you plan to do while in the country.
