About Thailand Tourist Visa

A tourist visa to Thailand is like any other visa; a stamp or a document serving as proof of stay in Thailand for a specific time and the intend of stay. Issued by the Thai embassy of the respective country, the visa can be extended if necessary.

However, if your country is in agreement with the government of Thailand for a visa exemption program, you can stay in Thailand for 45 to 90 days without needing a Thailand tourist visa. However, their Visa runners can not avail of visa-free Thailand service.

With that said, here are some terms and conditions that are to be followed to obtain the tourist visa to Thailand and things to ensure its validity;

1. Under Thailand tourist visa, the tourists aren’t supposed to engage in any sort of business or work in any capacity.
2. A tourist visa of more than 30 days is required to vacation in Thailand.
3. Leaving Thailand to other countries for a brief stay and coming back also requires a visa now.
4. Upon expiration of the visa, you must leave the country, even if you applied for an extension.
5. Due to COVID 19, many tourists are now required to get a tourist visa.

Requirements for obtaining a Tourist Visa to Thailand

The tourist visa to Thailand doesn’t require a lot of red paperwork, few documents, and visa fees, and you are good to go. However, the requirements can be changed anytime; hence it is suggested to check the site or consult an agency to be updated.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

1. Passport with a validity of at least six months
2. A thoroughly filled Visa application
3. One recent 4x6cm photograph of the applicant
4. Proof of Round-trip air ticket
5. Proof of monetary standing for the trip (at least 20,000 baht per person/ 40,000 baht per family)
6. Proof of accommodation in Thailand
7. Any additional documents can be asked by consular officers if necessary.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF ENTRY (COE)

1. A certificate of entry from the local Thai embassy is also required with a Tourist visa application for entry to the country.

2. To apply for COE, online registration is required along with all the valid documents such as health insurance, passport and visa, and now COVID-19 travel insurance too. Flight information and quarantine hotel reservation proof are to be uploaded.

3. The Embassy approves the application based on screening and valid documents submitted.

4. COE needs to be applied at least 5 to 10 days before the applicants’ flight to Thailand.

(NOTE: No matter how easy the process sound, some embassies will reject the application, which will automatically nullify Tourist visa to Thailand if the consular officers find flaws in the documents specifically in Health Insurance.)
